We,
who once discovered
in a flood that swept away
our self-hatred and alienation,
who now know that being ‘Beloved’
requires the rending
of all our sacred skies—

We,
who were driven into the wilderness,
who learned truth from wild creatures
and spiritual beings—

We
must take up the message
of those betrayed before us,
must march back into civilization
to proclaim what the desert God taught us.

Good news may come,
but only to those who drown away self-loathing
and insistent alienation
and let all they deem holy be ripped apart
for a Voice to get through.
