Once upon a time we were Professional Queers. I’m not sure I should call it a profession–we didn’t make a living at it.
In the “old days” when living the life was illegal and just coming out was socially and professional risky at best, we did the circuit. “Meet the real, live homosexuals! Hear their tale of woe and oppression! Discover their gentle unthreatening nature!”. Be nice to them.
It was not all bad. My Gay Old Soulmate and I produced a modest body of writing. Some of it was even quite progressive. Some may still be of interest.
My Old Gay Soulmate and I led workshops and moved into work that centered less on converting straight people and more on nurturing queer brothers and sisters.
And the writing continued and the arena of collaboration expanded. A lot of those writings and some accounts of that work got recorded on a set of personal web pages.
